🤍 i’ll meet you where you are 🤍

i made a set of hanfu clothing for us, inspired by our trip to China and in celebration of our 10 year anniversary 🤍🤍

when i was drafting these patterns i often had to draw curves to smoothly connect two incoming lines. depending on the angles of these lines, the curve is usually not a symmetrical one. where should the curve bend to make the smoothest line? it felt as if, starting from each end the curves bent in search of each other, unseeing in the white space but drawn to where they should go.

// about the patterns: the dress combines two designs from the 汉服制作(hanfu making) book: 交领短袄 (cross-collar short jacket) and 交窬裙 (cross-legged skirt). something interesting about these designs is there isn’t a paper pattern to trace, but rather the shapes are described in geometry, to be interpreted and scaled up onto the fabric. the shirt is based on a fav cloned shirt pattern modified to include hanfu elements.
