I wanted to stab something repeatedly.

Perhaps the initial phase of wild needle punching into fabric released something in me and my mood lifted over time. I began to enjoy the process of embroidering and while I initially intended to splatter the canvas with red and black, brighter colours started making their way in along with more coherent stitches. moving automatically and leaving room for wander, my mind pondered if the seemingly violent stitches were weakening or strengthening the fabric, as well as how much scraps it is reasonable to keep for use in future pieces — how can i walk the line between peaceful-minimalism and upcycling-hoarding?

Many thanks to friends who shared materials with me – pom poms from Nick and Shihui, homegrown raw cotton with husks from CY Ong, and yarn from my sister — thank you so much!
